Carter: I lied!

As I noted here, it is obviously absurd and dishonest to say that the Bush Administration lied about pre-war intelligence. That's presumably why Jimmy Carter is saying it:

The Bush Administration's prewar claims that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction were "manipulated, at least" to mislead the American people, former President Jimmy Carter said Wednesday.

And here is why the blogosphere is so great: Generation Why has unearthed (via Instapundit) this delicious Jimmy Carter quote from 2003:

We want Saddam Hussein to disarm but we want to achieve this through peaceful means.
"He obviously has the capability and desire to build prohibited weapons and probably has some hidden in his country.

What a putz.
